Using Tools in Illustrator

The video by Flow Studio moved a bit fast, but it was very straight to the point. I liked how he would mostly explain how to activate the tools with a keyboard shortcut key, like using “T” for text. I will definitely be using the shortcuts, that’s going to make it much easier. I think I will mostly struggle with the curvature tool, it looks hard to use and a bit complicated. Also this guy apparently has a game on Kickstarter which he advertised a few times.

Bevcause the curvature tool seemed challenging, I watched thie video to help. The guy recommending to draw the outline is good advice, I will definitely be doing that. I like how you can choose whatever point you want along the lines drawn, but the whole idea of vectors and drawing these lines still feels complicated, its something I’m going to have to work on. I do appreciate that the guy draws out a Batman symbol.

According to this video, using a shift on the pen tool locks it on the 45 degree angle. Like Ms. Roundtree said in class, you want to keep the points created as few as possible, he recommended 4 at least. Using ALT to change one side of the curve still confuses me though. I get the concept but I have no concept of how I should use it. I can imagine that getting a good sense of lines like this might help me though, as I’m trying to learn how to draw and a good grasp of shape is important.
